The big weekend is nearly here. Tomorrow the manufacturers, traders, and track bringers will be arriving at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire and setting up ready for 10 am on Saturday morning when the Festival opens its doors.
For us, part of that preparation was a dry run of putting the big track we have been working on for seven weeks fully together for the first time. In order to do that we had to borrow the back of the local Church as the only place available that was big enough to accommodate it. Even then it was tricky to find enough space and we had to build it around the baptismal font and a large stone pillar!
BBC Radio Coventry wanted to come and interview us about it for their Drive programme tomorrow between 3 and 4 pm and took some video for their web-site and FaceBook page. Tomorrow we will set up for real, ready for some proper racing.
Here is a picture of all but one of the panels (It is sometimes hard to keep track of all 19!) on our drive and then two pictures that give a sense of the size. Tomorrow we plan to post some pictures of it all in situ when we hope the light will be a bit more even. (The sun was very bright today which made it difficult to get good pictures.) Anyone recognise what it is meant to be??
