Scalextric

If you haven’t had anything to do with Scalextric for a few years, you may not be aware that the old one car per lane and no changing lanes concept has been opened up with the introduction of digital technology.  Now you can have up to 6 cars on 2 lanes and choose to change lanes for tactical reasons!  There are special sections on straights and corners where you can choose to change lane.  This can lead to some big crashes but can also really add to the fun.  With Scalextric Sport Digital you can even do Qualifying laps and then line up on the grid in the order you qualified in!! digitalgrid

Scalextric – along with other slot-car manufacturers -have  brought model car racing into the Digital age. Now you can have multiple cars on 2 lanes and choose to change lanes for tactical reasons!  There are special sections of track on straights and curves like the one pictured which provide this option.digital2

How does all this work? By holding down the little round button on the back of your hand controller as you approach a potential lane change section of track you can cut across your opponent and block him (or her) off.  (The top – oval – button is a Brake button.  You can now use the button to brake or have dynamic braking, where the car brakes when you take your thumb or finger right off the throttle, or have no braking at all!)

Also, you can have a working Pit Lane!!! So you can introduce a rule that says every one has to make one or two pits-stops per race.
The other great advantage of  this digital technology is that because you can get as many as 6 cars on a 2 lane circuit you don’t need to build 4, 6 or 8 lane tracks and can put more into the scenic aspects!  Our products are designed to help you do just that. controllerbuttons
